Reformer Pilates
Pilates (pronounced puh-lah-teez) is a method of exercise and physical movement designed to stretch, strengthen, and balance the body.
Pilates was developed by Joseph Pilates from Germany during the first half of the twentieth century, Pilates developed a system of exercises to strengthen the human mind and body, believing in a strong connection between physical and mental health.
In the 1920’s Joseph Pilates invented an apparatus, which could both address physical dysfunction or injury as well as condition the body. This apparatus was the prototype for what we now know as the the Universal Reformer.
What to expect:
Reformer Pilates is performed on the Reformer machine. This equipment looks like a bed with springs and has a sliding carriage, foot bar, ropes, pulleys and straps as well as a number of accessories such as the sitting box to provide a wide range of exercise options.
You can modify the degree of challenge through the variation of spring resistance to best meet your ability and goals.
The Pilates Reformer machines are safe and easy to use and our qualified instructors provide you with progressions and modifications to maximise your session.
Please note: that in the interest of safety and hygiene Qi requires participants to wear grip-style socks. (These can be purchased in the studio if needed).
